Text Box:      Rhode Island is among the best states in America when it comes to immunizing our children.  In recognition of our successes, Dr. Melinda Wharton, Deputy Director of the National Center of Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC came to our state during National Infant Immunization Week (April 19—26).
     Dr. Wharton, along with the RI Department of Health highlighted the importance of  getting our children fully immunized at several events.  They spoke to pediatricians at the RI Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics; they conducted Grand Rounds at Hasbro

annual School Nurse/Teachers Conference.
     They were at CCF on Friday, April 25th for a press conference with Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts.  After brief remarks, they joined in the fun at our  “Teddy Bear Clinic.”  
     Children involved in CCF programs brought their favorite stuffed animals to get check-ups and immunizations.  Staff from Thundermist Health Center and the Department of Health conducted the clinic.  Dr. Wharton was available to speak to parents and community members, answering  questions
