Community Partnerships...
Woonsocket Safe
Communities
It is the
mission of Woonsocket Safe Communities (WSC) to educate
and raise public awareness about seat belt use, care
seat safety and bicycle and pedestrian safety in order
to prevent injuries and death. Our programs
include bi-weekly care seat checkpoints, two
permanent inspection sites at the Woonsocket Police
Department and Chaplin-Perez Center, and the Risk Watch
Injury Prevention Program in the schools.
Woonsocket Safe Communities and the Woonsocket Police
Department have partnered with WalMart on Diamond Hill
Road to offer bi-weekly Care Seat Checkpoints.
Parents and
caregivers are invited to stop by these events to
have their children's seats checked and properly
installed by certified care seat technicians.
No appointment is necessary, just check your local
listings for the next scheduled event.
Woonsocket
Family Support Network
CCF is
working in partnership with Family Resources Community
Action to best meet the needs of our neighbors. Staff
from both agencies work together to help families with
emergency basic needs; to help families find safe,
affordable housing; to help parents improve their job
skills; and to help parents support their children’s
development.
Woonsocket’s
Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect
This is a
25-member task force led by CCF to address the high rate
of child abuse and neglect in our city. For the past 12
years, Woonsocket has had the highest or second highest
rate of abuse in Rhode Island.
Woonsocket
Agencies in Action
This is a
coalition of Woonsocket churches and community agencies
that run emergency food pantries. Together we share
resources, jointly seek funding to purchase protein
items, and coordinate the distribution of produce to
Woonsocket families during the summer and early fall. |
